WEAR ORANGE – WIN PRIZES! Everyone is looking for fun and safe things to do with all the family right now. Why not wear orange, take a walk with a scavenger hunt and take fun photos to win some great prizes, all while helping to save baby lives.
On 5 July Kit Tarka Foundation is inviting the public to wear orange and walk from home to raise awareness and much needed funds for the charity. ‘Walk for Kit’ is usually a big sponsored walk over the Seven Sisters cliffs but in light of the current situation the event has put on new shoes and over 300 people are joining in. All ages and abilities are welcome to join in, this time wherever they are in the world, and they can choose their own distance. Participants should observe social distancing rules.
Kit Tarka was a Brighton resident who was born healthy but died when he was just 13 days old from the common cold sore virus. It is thought to kill one newborn baby every week in the UK yet most of the general public are not aware of the dangers and many doctors do not consider the virus in their diagnosis or only administer treatment when it is too late.  Kit Tarka Foundation funds neonatal herpes research and works to raise awareness amongst the general public and medical profession. The small charity has been hit hard by Covid-19 as it looks set to lose £50,000 this year (80% of forecast income) due to cancelled fundraising events.
More information about the walk and how to sign up can be found at kittarkafoundation.org/walk.
