This year, Mark and Joanna Butler have managed what no other franchisee has done. They have been shortlisted in the Local Focus category at the bfa HSBC British Franchise Awards, taking place at the Vox, Birmingham, on November 30. But what makes them unique from all the other finalists is that they were shortlisted for an award last year too, under the multi-unit category.
This accolade, for the Tutor Doctor franchisees, shows their commitment to not only running an exceptional business, but also to providing an incredible service in the local community, both in North Surrey and Berkshire.
“We were amazed to receive a nomination from the BFA for the second year in succession. Now that it is six years since we launched it is rewarding to see that we are being recognised regularly for all the hard work we have put into developing our business” said Mark Butler, Franchisee.
“Having been nominated for a community engagement award. We pride ourselves on being a local community business. This means that we can make a difference to local children throughout the area. To be recognised by the BFA for this Community award reaffirms that we are standing by the principles of our business.” – Joanna Butler, Franchisee.
Pip Wilkins QFP, CEO of the bfa, said:
“Mark and Joanna are exceptional franchisees, hence they were shortlisted in a different category last year as well. They have assisted schools where they have students who can’t or don’t attend for different reasons, and this has been pivotal in the learning development of so many young people.”
Andrew Brattesani, Head of Franchising at HSBC, added:
“For Mark and Joanna, it’s all about enabling learning in the local community. This also includes bursary programmes, teaching young offenders, and helping the local community through supporting local clubs.”
Mark and Joanna will go head-to-head against two other franchisees, in November.
