THERE’S NO NEED TO JUMP THROUGH HOOPS TO PICK UP LITTER IN PEACEHAVEN

Local housebuilder Barratt Southern Counties has made a generous donation to Clean Peacehaven, a litter picking organisation in Peacehaven, ahead of the Great British September Clean this month. The housebuilder, who is building new homes at its Chalkers Rise development on Pelham Rise, has donated refuse hoops to the group, to help them to easily collect litter when out on picks.

Though the sea breeze is always welcome on a hot day, coastal winds can disrupt a litter pick by blowing rubbish out of the bin bags and back onto the floor. The donation of much-needed refuse hoops will help the group to hold their bin bags open securely whilst litter picking, helping rubbish to be easily placed into the sack.

Lynnette St-Quintin, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Southern Counties, comments: “Sustainability is at the heart of what we do at Barratt Homes. We have made it our own mission to reduce plastic use at Chalkers Rise, and we exclusively use environmentally friendly building materials that are rated with an A-A* classification by the Building Research Establishment’s Green Guide. We’re proud to support Clean Peacehaven, who dedicate so much time to protecting our environment, and making sure that Peacehaven is a beautiful place to live.”

Clean Peacehaven was established in 2018 and has now grown to become a dedicated team of around 60 litter pickers, who take part in regular cleans and litter picks in the town.

David Seabrook, organiser of Clean Peacehaven, comments: “We pick up litter all year round, and we have always struggled on windy days when it is difficult to hold bags open and the rubbish has blown out of our bags, making our job take twice as long! We’re very grateful to Barratt Homes for its kind donation of refuse hoops, which stop our bin bags from flying away after a strong gust of wind!”

Barratt Homes is currently building three- and four-bedroom homes at its Chalkers Rise development in Peacehaven. Prices start at £369,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached home. To find out more about Chalkers Rise or Barratt Southern Counties, visit www.barratthomes.co.uk or call 0333 355 8498.
