Seeking the ultimate in at-home wellness facilities for their property in Cheltenham, one family chose industry-leader KLAFS at Guncast to deliver their luxurious personal spa suite.

Gilles Darmon, Director of KLAFS at Guncast, comments; “We were tasked with the goal of creating a wellness retreat that fit within the confines of a limited basement space, whilst ensuring natural light would transcend the suite to provide a spacious feel – a notorious challenge in any basement conversion. We were delighted to exceed the client’s expectations, installing a spa pool, KLAFS sauna and steam room, and steam shower.”

Using expansive glass panels to connect each spa element, including glass doors to the sauna, and a large glass window between the pool and steam room, KLAFS at Guncast met the brief to create the ultimate light and airy relaxation space.

The focal point of the suite is the spa pool, with a six spa jet hot seat, swan neck massagers and lounger seats. Jets are positioned in multiple locations to massage the whole body, with a variety of seating arrangements to allow multiple users at once. The two swan neck massages feature different openings, offering two different neck massages helping to alleviate stress.

Through a large glazed wall, the bespoke steam room features stylish bench seating fitted with contemporary LED uplighters. To provide maximum efficiency, the steam room is fitted with a local steam generator and an efficient Protected Stream Inlet, through which the steam circulates into the room.

The KLAFS LOUNGE Sauna sits behind glass doors, complete with cross-joints Hemlock cladding panels and a full cabin timber floor for maximum indulgence. Bench seating means that up to five people can enjoy the sauna at any given time, with illuminated wall mounted backrests for comfort.

Completing the spa, a luxurious steam shower sits within an arc-shaped alcove, perfect for cooling down after the sauna and steam room, or showering after the pool.

Extending an existing basement to facilitate the spa, KLAFS at Guncast used their expertise and experience from the commercial sector, working closely with Cranatt Construction who carried out all the main works and demolition, to ensure the project ran smoothly without any delays. KLAFS at Guncast advised on replacing non-weight bearing walls with glass panels, whilst ensuring the project was compliant with Party Wall Agreements.

This Cheltenham project is one of the latest in KLAFS at Guncast’s home spas.  Established in Germany in 1928, KLAFS is widely regarded as a world-leader in wellbeing facilities thanks to their innovative take on traditional saunas and have partnered with luxury swimming pool and spa specialist Guncast to deliver their expertise and quality products in the UK.
