Leading Norfolk developer Barratt and David Wilson Homes is remembering the country’s fallen heroes this Armistice Day with the latest installation at its developments in Norfolk.
The housebuilder has installed large poppies at Cringleford Heights and Wayland Fields to mark the annual tribute to all those who lost their lives during the wars.
The ongoing challenges throughout 2020 and 2021 provide a great opportunity for people across the UK to remember the hardship faced by those living through war times.
Residents and visitors to the new communities are encouraged to walk past the poppies and think about all those who served in conflicts across the world ahead of Remembrance Day on Thursday 11th November.
Simon Wood, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Eastern Counties, said: “We have decorated Cringleford Heights and Wayland Fields with poppies to honour the occasion as a tribute to all those who lost their lives in conflict.
“During this time of remembrance, we’re encouraging residents of Norfolk to take in the poppies onsite when walking by, and take a moment of quiet reflection.”
The Royal British Legion is celebrating its centenary this year, after first launching in 1921. The charity has spent 100 years supporting the Armed Forces community, and their annual Poppy Appeal has been a crucial part of their fundraising efforts.
The organisation has over 40,000 volunteers across the UK, all collecting donations towards the Poppy Appeal. This year’s campaign was launched by their Royal Highnesses the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, where ten volunteers met with them at Clarence House to mark the launch.
