A co-operative coffee franchisee, which has expanded its store portfolio from three to fifty in three years, is continuing to explore new opportunities.
This week, Southern Co-op opened its 50th coffee store, operating under Cobra Coffee – a Starbucks® licensee partner.
The Portsmouth founded co-operative grew the number of its Starbucks® stores from three to 19 when it acquired Cobra Coffee in October 2018.
Its store portfolio expanded further from 19 to 30 during 2020, including 12 stores following the acquisition of Amsric Limited, and another 20 stores became part of the family in 2021.
With more new stores planned in 2022, Southern Co-op and Cobra Coffee, which operates as a Starbucks® licensee partner across the south of England, has its sights set on continued growth over the next few years.
Gwyn Kennett, Head of Operations at Cobra Coffee, said: “We are always looking for new locations and opportunities to bring the Starbucks experience to customers in the south of England.
“Each store represents job opportunities for the local area as well as a community space where people can relax and enjoy the company of others.”
Southern Co-op and Cobra Coffee’s existing stores are a combination of high street, drive-thru and drive-to locations.
All stores provide relaxed indoor dining, takeaway and a delivery service via third party operators.
These are currently based in Ashford, Bath, Bideford, Bognor Regis, Bournemouth, Brighton, Brislington, Bristol, Canterbury, Crawley, Dorking, Eastbourne, Exeter, Folkestone, Fraddon, Horsham, Hove, Isle of Sheppey, Maidstone, New Malden, Orpington, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Reigate, Rickmansworth, Sevenoaks, Southampton, Strood, Tonbridge, Torquay, Truro, Tunbridge Wells, Whiteley, Winchester, Wokingham, Worcester Park, Worthing, and Yeovil.
