Homes builder Miller Homes Southern is inviting Hampshire-based charities and not-for-profit organisations to apply for funding through a financial donation of £500 as part of its latest charity initiative.
Launched in celebration of Miller Homes’ new Hampshire development, Boorley Gardens, which is set to commence work in January 2022, the initiative will allow local not-for-profis to apply for their chance to secure the entire £500 fund pot. Nominations will open on Saturday 27 November 2021 and the winning cause will be able to use the funds to support the work they do in the region.
The pandemic has created many difficult challenges for not-for-profit organisations. A recent study found a total of £4billion has been lost by charities in the last year, due to factors such as a reduction in financial and voluntary support, as well as fewer occasions for fundraising within the local community due to the pandemic.
Commenting on the new initiative, Katrina Crawford, sales and marketing director at Miller Homes Southern, said:
“It goes without saying that the past couple of years have highlighted the importance of nurturing and building communities. Bringing people together and supporting the local organisations that provide vital services across our neighbourhoods has never been more pertinent especially this year, and it’s something we’re always really passionate about.
“As the world has begun to return to a more ‘normal’ way of living, it’s essential that we continue to remember the values that brought us all together during times of lockdown. There’s no doubt many not-for-profit and charitable organisations will still be recovering from the effects of months of having to close their facilities, reductions in public fundraising and reduced staff or volunteer numbers. But by launching this initiative, we hope to lend a helping hand.”
She added:
“If you’re a community group, sports team, charity or not-for-profit organisation operating in Hampshire, or would like to nominate one, please send in your applications by Saturday 1 January 2021.
“During its 85 years, Miller Homes has brought a number of homes to the Hampshire area, so we know just how deserving and committed this community is. We look forward to hearing from organisations who are doing positive things in our community, as we plan ahead for the first homeowners to settle in Summer 2022.”
To nominate your organisation, please email southerncharityrequest@miller.co.uk with details of your nominated organisation along with contact information and how the cause will benefit from the donation.
