Barratt Homes has received a total of 30 gift-filled shoeboxes at its Eldebury Place development in Chertsey last week. Thanks to efforts from local communities, all shoeboxes will be donated to Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child campaign, where they will be distributed to children across the world for Christmas.
Operation Christmas Child began in 1990 and has now delivered shoeboxes filled with gifts to more than 188 million children in over 150 countries worldwide. Residents and members of the local community delivered shoeboxes containing a variety of treats including colouring pens, soft toys and hygiene items to Barratt Southern Counties’ Sales and Marketing Suite at Eldebury Place between 15th and 22nd November.
Kimberley Benson, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt Southern Counties, comments: “It is so exciting to kickstart the season of giving in Surrey as part of our annual Operation Christmas Child collection. Once again, the community turned out in full force to support this initiative and their generosity will bring festive cheer to children in need across the globe this Christmas. We hope these packages will help bring joy to the children during the festive period and beyond.”
This year, Barratt Southern Counties has collected 213 shoeboxes across its developments in Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. The housebuilder registered a number of its sites as drop off points, including at Eldebury Place in Chertsey.
Nick Cole, Director of Operation Christmas Child UK comments, “We thank the organisations who have given up their time and space to become a drop-off point for our campaign. We have over 500 volunteers at the regional processing centre in Tunbridge Wells who will package up the shoeboxes before dispatching across the world to be delivered to children in need.”
Barratt Southern Counties is building its Eldebury Place development in Chertsey, where a collection of one and two-bedroom apartments and three and four-bedroom homes are available. Prices start from £271,995 for a one-bedroom apartment.
