The Bannatyne Hotel in Hastings is providing more than 100 turkey dinners on Christmas day to families and individuals in challenging circumstances in the town.
The recipients of the festive meals have been identified with support from Hastings Foodbank and the Seaview Project, which works with people in temporary accommodation.
On Christmas Day, Bannatyne staff and their families will give up their time to cook, pack and deliver roast turkey with all the trimmings and Christmas pudding right across Hastings. Dietary requirements will be considered with vegans, vegetarian and anyone with allergies catered for.
Mark O’Reilly, general manager Bannatyne Hotel Hastings, said: “While the hotel has been really busy between lockdowns, restrictions mean that on Christmas Day we are much quieter than usual.
“Rather than put our feet up we decided that this would be a good time to give something back to our community, and offer Christmas dinner to people who are struggling, often through the effects of the pandemic and the impact it has had on so many people’s livelihoods.
“Hastings Food Bank and the Seaview Project have been great in helping to find families and individuals for whom this will be a real boost at a difficult time.
“I’d like to thank my amazing staff and our families who are right behind this. If we can make Christmas Day a little bit better for a few local people, then it will all be worthwhile.”
