To mark the official unveiling of Woodland Heath in Sprowston, local councillors joined Barratt and David Wilson Homes representatives for a special preview of the new properties.
Getting the first look at the new sales centre and five show homes on Salhouse Road were close to 30 guests, including members of Sprowston Town Council and South Norfolk and Broadland District Council.
Present to cut the ribbon to officially open the development were Cllr John Ward (Mayor of Sprowston), Cllr John Fisher (Thorpe St Andrew North West Ward) and Cllr Fran Whymark (Portfolio Holder for Housing and Excellence).
Also in attendance were the housebuilder’s directors and site team, in addition to representatives from the divisional subcontractors.
Cllr John Ward, said: “I was delighted to be present at the ribbon cutting of this new development at Woodland Heath.
“Barratt and David Wilson Homes have produced a well-designed scheme with good quality homes at affordable prices which are much needed in the area.”
Woodland Heath will deliver a total of 535 two, three and four bedroom properties to Sprowston, creating 1,070 jobs for local people.
As part of the development, Barratt and David Wilson Homes will contribute over £6.5 million towards various infrastructure requirements including over £1m towards providing or improving the current provision of allotments and sport facilities in the parish of Sprowston.
Over £5.5 million is also being invested in the form of a Community Infrastructure Levy which could be used to contribute to and improve infrastructure in Broadland.
Whilst creating 6.4 hectares of public open space at Woodland Heath, Barratt and David Wilson Homes plans to transfer an area of land to Norfolk County Council for the provision of a new primary school.

Planning permission for Woodland Heath was granted in June 2020 and work commenced in the following December.
Since its launch, Barratt and David Wilson Homes has sold 13 properties at the development and will soon be welcoming its first residents to the community.
With five show homes available to view by appointment, Barratt Homes currently has a selection of three and four bedroom properties priced from £281,995, whilst David Wilson Homes has three and four bedroom properties starting from £324,995.
