Faversham Pools has received a £500 donation to kickstart its fundraising efforts for the Pools’ Mile of Pounds appeal from David Wilson Homes Kent, who is building its Perry Court development on Brogdale Road, Faversham.
Faversham Pools is launching a fundraising campaign as it has had to close for a second time due to national lockdown. The charity is seeking to raise the ambitious target of £70,000 – the equivalent of a mile of pound coins – to help it survive this difficult time, with attendances hit by restricted capacity and limited hours, and continuing uncertainty about whether it can open its popular outdoor pool next summer. As well as being a staple in the local community, often used by local schools and community groups for physio and rehabilitation, organisations supporting adults and children with disabilities travel from across Kent to use the accessible facilities.
Geoff Wade, Chairman at Faversham Pools, commented: “Since our pools were built in the 1960’s, it is an important and ongoing project for us to update and modernise our facilities. We managed to raise enough money last year to replace the ageing heating infrastructure and, given the financial hardship we have faced due to the lockdown, we are very grateful to David Wilson Homes for its donation to get the ball rolling on our new campaign to keep us at the heart of the local community. ”
Faversham Pools is also a particularly unique swimming pool establishment as it is the only remaining outdoor pool in the UK with one metre, three metre and five metre diving boards.
Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for David Wilson Kent, commented: “Swimming is so important for both physical and mental health, so we are pleased to support Faversham Pools’ fundraising efforts. The pool encourages a healthier lifestyle for the residents of Faversham and surrounding areas, and we hope this donation helps in its next phase of redevelopment.”
David Wilson Kent’s Perry Court development is less than a mile from Faversham Pools, where a collection of three- and four-bedroom homes are available. Prices start from £349,995 for a three-bedroom home.
