The Bannatyne health club in Bury St Edmunds is collecting pyjamas for local children’s wards.

The health club is supporting West Suffolk and Ipswich hospitals by asking its members, staff and the local community to bring in their donations of new pyjamas to be given to children during their overnight stays in the hospitals.

Children’s Hospital Pyjamas was created in 2009 to put a smile on children’s faces and bring joy to what can be a tough experience. Donations of non-fleece pyjamas for children and young adults from newborn to age 18 are welcome.

Kat Shave, area co-ordinator at Children’s Hospital Pyjamas, said: “We would like to express our gratitude to the staff and members at Bannatyne’s for offering their support with our pyjama appeal.

“Hospitals can be scary places for children, and we all know the feeling of putting fresh pyjamas on, so we wanted to bring that same comfort to children who may have to stay overnight at a hospital.”

Daryl Johnson, general manager at Bannatyne Bury St Edmunds, said: “Supporting local charities is very important to everyone at the Bury club, and we hope we’re able to put a smile on children’s faces during a difficult time.

“Whether you’re a member or not, if you would like to donate some pyjamas to this great cause, pop into reception and a member of the team will be more than happy to help.”
