A Hertfordshire company has been recognised for its high standard of training throughout the world by the UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA).
Asbestos Training Limited, based on Shepreth Road in Fowlmere, won the Training Initiative award for the development of its interactive Asbestos Awareness E-Learning Refresher course at the recent 2018 UKATA Excellence Awards.
The award was presented by Olympic sporting legend Kriss Akabusi at a glittering ceremony held to mark UKATA’s tenth anniversary. Established in 2008, UKATA is the leading authority for asbestos training provision in the United Kingdom.
Developed over 12 months by Asbestos Training Limited, the ground-breaking online UKATA-approved Asbestos Awareness E-Learning Refresher course is the first of its kind in the industry.
The course enables people who have previously undergone UKATA-approved asbestos awareness training, to quickly and remotely renew their industry certificate annually.
The introduction of the online refresher course has proved popular with Asbestos Training Limited’s customers both in the UK and abroad. The company delivers asbestos training throughout the world, including far flung destinations such as Ascension Island in the South Atlantic Ocean, a remote island than numbers less than 1000 inhabitants.
Graham O’Mahony, Managing Director of Asbestos Training Limited, explained: “We are delighted to win such a prestigious industry award for the course. It recognises the impact online interactive learning is having on our industry.
“It has been extremely well received by our customers and those within the industry who need a flexible and easy way to renew their industry accreditation.”
Craig Evans, UKATA Chief Operating Officer, added: “We work in a very dangerous industry, so it is great to see one of our members going above and beyond to ensure that people can easily and cost-effectively access training through a number of channels to ensure the ongoing safety of themselves and others.
“Asbestos Training Limited’s commitment to ensuring that ongoing training and assessment is accessible really stood out for us and we were delighted to present then with the Training Initiative Award.”
The awards were open to all UKATA member companies. In addition to training initiative, the awards also recognised the best in Corporate Social Responsibility, innovation, advertising, customer service, workforce development and innovation.
Since being established in 2008, UKATA and has gone from strength to strength in the last 10 years, now numbering more than 180 member organisations from all corners of the UK, including AEC.
