The Abbey School in Faversham has received a donation of two laptops to support their Special Educational Needs students. The donation was made by local housebuilder Barratt Homes who is behind the Perry Court development on Brogdale Road.

With education taking place with the support of online activities and face-to-face learning, digital connectivity is now vital for all students, especially secondary school pupils who are studying towards their GCSEs. The donation from Barratt Kent will allow students access to online resources to support their learning.

Mrs S Frorath, SENCo at The Abbey School, comments: “Online learning has been a crucial aspect of the past year and will continue to be as we navigate out of lockdown. The laptops have enabled these students to work independently which has been vital both within school and at home, supporting families who have not had the extra resources to adapt to the sudden technological demands placed upon them because of the pandemic. We are grateful for the support from Barratt Kent, and are pleased the pupils’ learning will not suffer due to a lack of resources.”

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Kent, said: “We are very pleased that our laptop donation is helping those children most in need, ensuring they can continue to access education without disadvantage. Barratt Kent is committed to supporting the local community in Faversham and we look forward to future projects together.”

Barratt Kent is currently building its Perry Court development less than a 10 minute walk from The Abbey School. The development has a range of family-friendly three and four-bedroom homes currently available, with prices starting from £420,995 for a three-bedroom home.
