Homebuilder Miller Homes Southern has launched a new initiative to provide much-needed support to charities and not-for-profit organisations in Surrey, Oxfordshire and West Sussex.
The new Miller Homes Community Pot will be open to organisations registered as charitable bodies who can apply for financial support from a fund pot of £1,000.
The four successful causes will be able to receive a maximum of £250 each with individuals and organisations invited to nominate their chosen causes from 22 April 2021.
Recent months have seen many not-for-profit organisations face a number of challenges including a reduction in fundraising and voluntary support from the local communities as a result of COVID-19.
However, Katrina Crawford, sales and marketing director at Miller Homes Southern hopes the new initiative will offer a helping hand.
She said:
“It goes without saying that the last 12 months have been difficult for so many, but there’s never been a more important time for the community to come together and show support for the many great causes that do such vital work across the region.
“Social distancing measures, ongoing lockdowns, closures of facilities, reduced volunteer numbers and the cancellation of sports events will no doubt have left many causes short on financial support, but by launching this new initiative we hope we can help in some small way.
“If you’re a community group, sports team, charity or not-for-profit organisations operating in the area or know anyone who is, please do get your applications in and we look forward to being able to do our bit to support.”
To nominate your organisation to receive a donation from Miller Homes’ community pot, please email southerncharityrequest@miller.co.uk with details of your organisation, contact information and how you will benefit from the donation by Friday 11 June 2021. A panel of judges made up of employees from Miller Homes Southern will then review the nominations and select the benefitting organisations.
Miller Homes has been creating communities for 85 years, and currently has 10 developments across the South East and South West. For more information visit www.millerhomes.co.uk
