An Oxford based care home has made a sunflower display out of plastic bottles to welcome the harvest season.
MHA Brookfield was inspired by the sunflower paintings of Vincent Van Gogh and decided to create a display made up of plastic bottles.
More than 40 bottles were used to create the display, which was painted by residents and is up in the reception area of the home.
To go with the display, they also painted pictures of crops that grow during the harvest season such as corn, onions, wheat, and aubergines.
Family members of residents along with staff donated the bottles, with the top half of them being used for the sunflowers.
Victoria Davidson, activity coordinator said: “The idea came off the back of my visit to the Van Gogh exhibition in London.
“We wanted to do something to celebrate the change of colours and the start of the harvest season.
“In total it took the residents a couple of weeks to complete the display and it came out well.
“Our residents love painting, they really enjoyed painting the bottles and are very proud of the display.
“We will be doing something similar with the bottom half of the bottles in line with Remembrance Sunday.
“The reception area of the home looks really nice thanks to the display and it’s just another wonderful activity the residents have enjoyed.”
