A Shoreham care home has been praised by the Care Quality Commission following its latest inspection by the independent regulator.
Cavell House, on Middle Road, was given an overall rating of ‘Good’ following the CQC team’s visit.
A CQC report judges a care home on its levels of care, responsiveness, safety, effectiveness, and leadership and includes comments from residents and their relatives.
One person told the CQC representatives: “The staff always treat us well. They ask me what I want to do for myself. They always encourage me to be as independent as possible. They are very kind, they honestly can’t do enough for you.”
A relative said: “They are wonderful staff, really kind and lovely to my relative. It’s feels like family and my relative is very content.”
Comments from the inspectors included: “The outcomes for people living at Cavell House were personalised and reflected the caring values of the people supporting them. People told us they felt safe and were comfortable with staff and were cared for in a safe, friendly and calm environment.”
“People’s needs, choices and preferences were known by staff and their care plans were personalised. Staff and managers were approachable and knew people well.”
Nikki Stevenson, Home Manager at Cavell House, said: “We are delighted that the inspectors have recognised the hard work and dedication of the team at Cavell House, and have rated us as ‘good’ in all areas. It is a testament to the high quality of service we deliver at the home, and our passion for delivering personalised care.
“We will not sit on our laurels though and will continue to maintain our high standards to ensure a positive outcome at our next inspection.”
Cavell House forms part of Larchwood Care and is managed by Healthcare Management Solutions. 76% of Larchwood Care Homes are rated as ‘Good’ or above by the CQC and Care Inspectorate, above the industry average.
