The Churchillian reopened in Portsmouth on Monday 12th April, after a £280,000 investment during lockdown.
With alfresco dining and drinking on trend as we return to a life more normal, the new outdoor bar and re-designed garden, is sure to be a go-to location for family and friends.
As Churchill once said, “gin and tonic has saved more Englishmen’s lives, and minds, than all the doctors in the Empire” and with a mouth-watering selection of spirits, cocktails and beers, locals will not be disappointed. And for those who love to shop local, there is a fantastic selection of local gins and rum from the famous Portsmouth Distillery, in addition to the six beers on draft, an array of wines, premium cider and ales.
Situated on top of Portsdown Hill at 120 metres high, it is the perfect spot to enjoy the most spectacular views across Portsmouth, the Isle of Wight and Hayling Island, whilst catching up with loved ones. Furthermore, with the ability to host up to 280 covers, The Churchillian will guarantee a vibrant atmosphere with sufficient space for everyone to feel relaxed and safe.
The pub’s extensive food menu is also back and better than ever, with favourites such as Hunter’s Chicken, Sausages and Mash, and Chicken Tikka Masala, ensuring that customers can get their fill on all the pub classics they have missed over the past year. What’s more, the Churchillian also offers a host of vegan and vegetarian recipes to tempt any tastebud. Customers can choose from Smoked Cheese & Beetroot Tart, Veggie Burger, Smoky Soya Nachos and plenty of others.
What’s more, the internal refurb has now begun and will be ready for 17th May! Customers can expect a new look interior throughout, as well as a revamped function room ideal for weddings, parties and birthdays. After missing out on so many celebrations during lockdown, this venue is bound to be a hit.
Hugo Teixeira, General Manager of The Churchillian, said:
“It’s been such a challenging year and we cannot wait to welcome customers through our doors, old and new. Our outdoor areas have been transformed to give our guests the ideal space in which to enjoy their freedom, whilst feeling safe and maintaining their distance.
“Our menus and team are geared up to provide Alfresco drinking and dining at its very best, allowing customers to enjoy socialising outdoors, particularly as the weather continues to brighten this Spring!
“The local pub has always been the perfect place to spend quality time with friends and family – and it’s now back – better than ever!”
